Almost everyone has heard the song “Twas the Night Before Christmas” before, but not everyone has heard it by Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians. Guy Lombardo was a Canadian- American bandleader and violinist. His group, the Royal Canadians, was formed in 1924 featuring his brothers and other musicians from his hometown. Lombardo is remembered for many years of New Years Eve performances, not only on the radio but on TV. Guy Lombardo and his Royal Canadians released a designated Christmas album featuring some of today’s favorites: Rudolph the Red nose Reindeer, Jingle Bells, etc. In the midst of all of this, Lombardo was also winning speedboat race championships. Lombardo died in 1977 and the group shortly parted ways in 1979.
