Exploring the history of the groove

“Love Me Tender” by Elvis Presley

We all have that song that can take us back to a different time and place. The song for me is Love Me Tender by Elvis Presley. My grandparents who were the ultimate couple would sing and dance to this love song in their living room. I can remember being young and watching them and not quite grasping how special this moment was. The older I got the more intrigued I was by this song. This was the first song that Elvis sang that was not a rock song. He performed the song on The Ed Sullivan show on September 9th, 1956 and gave his viewers a very intimate performance.  After the airing of this song, RCA received more than a million advance orders on the single. That made the single a gold record before it was even officially released.
