Exploring the history of the groove

Is There Something Nice About the Isle of Man?

You are listening to Something Nice About the Isle of Man, composed by Fred Godfrey and sung by Billy Williams. Written in 1914, this song is about those who vacation on the small, windswept island off the coast of Wales, mostly in the form of satirical comments about why they chose to go there. These days, the Isle of Man is known for the Isle of Man TT bike races, which are world famous for taking place on the roads and streets of the island and for being incredibly dangerous. Strangely enough, during my research, this song in particular wasn’t shown on any musical archives of Fred Godfrey’s work. It’s possible that this could be a lost record since Godfrey wrote over 900 songs in his lifetime.
